Maui Wildfire Charities

This is a list of charities that are assisting with housing displaced families, feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, and with rebuilding the community. Most of Lahaina Town was recently lost in a devastating wildfire. Many lives have been lost and many more forever changed. Hundreds, if not thousands of homes have been destroyed. Hundreds of businesses have been destroyed and thousands of people are now without work and income to pay for housing, food, and the basic necessities. Many who still have jobs don't know when they will go back to work and when they do, they don't know how long it will take for the local economy to recover. More than just Lahaina and the Westside of Maui was impacted by wildfires. Please don't forget about Upcountry in Kula and Makawao. Many people have also lost homes and have been displaced. The people of Maui need your aloha. Please give what you can even if it's a small amount. It's amazing what charities can do with a small amount of money. If enough people give even a little bit, it can have a massive impact on many lives that have been affected by the Maui Wildfires. Malama Maui. Mahalo.

We will be updating this page regularly with different charity organizations including organizations that are assisting those who are now unemployed or temporarily unemployed due to businesses being lost or temporarily shut down. 

Large Maui Charity Organizations assisting with those negatively impacted by the Maui Wildfires.

Maui Food Bank - The Maui Food Bank is a crucial charity on Maui even during the best of times. During this natural disaster, support is needed more than ever. The Maui Food Bank can provide four meals for every dollar donated. You can donate directly to the Maui Food Bank, virtually purchase food on the Maui Food Bank website, manage a virtual food drive on the Maui Food Bank website, and organize a donation drives on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. 

Hawaii Community Foundation - Maui Strong - The Hawaii Community Foundation has been assisting those in need for over 105 years. The Maui Strong Fund is too specifically help those in need on Maui who have been impacted by the Maui Wildfires. They donate to charity organizations that are assisting with housing, food, clothing, animals, search and rescue, cleanup, and rebuilding. Many of the charities they contribute to are also listed here. View the Maui Strong Fund page to see how much has been donated and which charities the funds are going to. 

Hawaii Red Cross - The American Red Cross in Hawaii is currently assisting with housing displaced residents. They are currently operating 7 shelter on Maui and Oahu. With assistance of the Hawaii Salvation Army and other organizations they are also providing meals to those in the shelters. They are asking not only for donations, but volunteers. Please visit their website to donate and to learn how you can volunteer with the Hawaii Red Cross to assist Maui Wildfire Victims.

Maui Humane Society - The Maui Humane Society is always an amazing organization to support. The Maui Humane Society is treating injured pets and animals, helping to reunite pets with their owners, and providing food and medication for pets and animals impacted by the Maui Wildfires. They now have vets one the Westside to treat pets and animals in need at Lahaina Gateway and Napili Plaza starting and 12PM. If you have lost a pet please be sure to add your pet to their Lost and Missing page. Many Maui pets and pet owners will need our support. 

Hawaii Salvation Army - The Hawaii Salvation Army lost it's entire Lahaina Lighthouse Corp complex during this Maui Wildfire, but are focused on continuing to support the community. Currently they are working with the Hawaii Red Cross to prepare and distribute 7,200 meals per day as of August 12, 2023. 100% of Disaster Donations will go to those in need on Maui.

Ka Hale A Ke Ola - Ka Hale A Ke Ola operates housing for homeless families in need. Sadly their 78 unit facility that housed more than 140 people was destroyed in the Maui Wildfire. They are now in need of assistance with housing those displaced families. Ka Hale A Ke Ola assists with providing temporary and permanent housing for homeless families, emergency care, child care, life skills training, and emergency shelter. Ka Hale A Ke Ola goal is the break the cycle of homelessness on Maui. Please consider donating to this wonderful organization.

Maui Hui Malama - Maui Hui Malama is a charity organization that assists keiki/children on Maui. They are currently providing assistance to displaced families in need. They are also onsite at shelters to assist families and youth as they cope with the trauma of the disaster.

Kings Cathedral & Chapels - Kings Cathedral is a church that is currently housing 200 victims of the Maui Wildfire and anticipates housing an additional 200 to 400 victims. They are in need of funding for cots, bedding, food, and clothing. 

Merriman's & Monkeypod Kitchen Relief Fund - Merriman's and Monkeypod are sister restaurants. Both survived the wildfire and are not currently open for business, but are preparing free daily meals for residents impacted by the Maui Wildfires. Donating to the Merriman's & Monkeypod Kitchen Relief Fund will help to feed residents of West Maui as well as provide support to employees who have lost homes. They are currently providing 1500 to 2000 meals per day. 

Lahaina Restoration Foundation - The Lahaina Restoration Foundation has been around since 1962 and has led the way in preserving historical Lahaina as well as culturally significant artifacts. They have restored and preserved more than a dozen historic landmarks throughout Lahaina. Many of these landmarks have been severally damaged and destroyed. The Lahaina Restoration Foundation will be an important organization to assist in the rebuilding of Lahaina. 

 

Small Maui Charity Organizations assisting with those negatively impacted by the Maui wildfires. Many of these organizations are to assist residents who have lost their jobs. Some of the job losses are temporary and others may be permanent. 

TS Restaurants Legacy Of Aloha Foundation - TS Restaurants operates Kimos, Maui Brewing Company, Hula Grill, Leilani's, and Dukes on Maui. Sadly Kimo's was lost. The other restaurants will reopen, but initially the amount of visitors needed to keep the restaurants fully staffed will likely be low. It may take months or years for visitor activity to recover. The TS Legacy Of Aloha Foundation will assist the nearly 800 employees impacted by the Maui wildfires. Some have lost everything, some are now without a job, and others are temporarily without a job until things can reopen. Funds will go to support these employees. Any surplus of funds will be donated to other charity organizations on Maui who are assisting those in need.

Lahaina Grill Employees and Families - This GoFundMe was setup to help support over 40 Lahaina Grill employees who are now without jobs. Many lost their homes. 

Hana Hou Hospitality - Down The Hatch, Breakwall Shave Ice, Mala Ocean Tavern, Duckine, and Paradiso - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Down The Hatch, Breakwall Shave Ice, Mala Ocean Tavern, Duckine, and Paradiso. Unfortunately, Down The Hatch and Breakwall Shave Ice were lost, but they plan to eventually rebuild. Funds will go to support employees who have lost their homes. Funds will also be used to build 8 tiny homes for displaced employees and their families. 

Cool Cat Cafe & Captain Jacks - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Cool Cat Cafe Maui and Captain Jacks Island Grill. Over 120 employees are now without jobs. Over half have lost their homes and vehicles. Funds will go towards basic necessities such as housing, food, clothing, and hygiene products. 

Cheeseburger In Paradise Lahaina - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of the Cheesburger In Paradise located Lahaina. Funds will be for employees who have lost their jobs and homes. Funds will go towards housing and basic necessities.

Warren and Annabelle's Magic Show - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Warren and Annabelle's Magic. All employees no longer have a job and many lost their homes. Funds will go towards housing and basic necessities.

Waikiki Brewing Company Lahaina - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Waikiki Brewing Company located in Lahaina. All employees no longer have a job and many lost their homes. Funds will go towards housing and basic necessities.

Sale Pepe Pizzeria e Cucina - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees and to rebuild Sale Pepe Pizzeria e Cucina. Funds will support employees and reopening the restaurant.

Old Lahaina Lua, Star Noodle, & Leoda's - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Old Lahaina Lua, Star Noodle, and Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop. All three businesses survived the fire. Unfortunately, 298 employees are temporarily out of work and some may not be able to go back to work until tourism returns to normal levels. 127 of the employees have sadly lost their homes and many have lost their vehicles. Funds will go towards helping the employees secure house, basic necessities, and to cover expenses until they can return to normal work. 

Pioneer Inn Lahaina - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of the Pioneer Inn. 50 employees are now without jobs and many have lost homes and all their possessions. Many of the employees are now homeless. Funds will assist with housing, food, and basic necessities. One of my favorite pictures I have ever taken was of the Pioneer Inn. We were heading to Lahaina Harbor to take the Ferry over to Lana'i. It was dawn, the sun was not yet out, and there was a full moon setting over the roofline of Pioneer Inn. Papa'aina at the Pioneer Inn - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of the Papa'aina Restaurant at the Pioneer Inn. All employees are now without jobs. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities. 

Moana Glass - This link goes to the Moana Glass Instagram page which has instructions on how to donate by Venmo or by mail. Funds will go to help employees get back on their feet. 100% of donations will go to the employees.

Longhi's Kaanapali - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Longhi's Kaanapali at the Marriott Ocean Club. As of a few days ago multiple employees were still unaccounted for and at least ten have lost their homes. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities. 

Pacific'o - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Pacific'o. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities. Many of the the 46 employees have lost their homes and all their belongings. With Pacific'o now gone they are now without jobs.

Betty's Beach Cafe - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Betty's Beach Cafe. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities. Many of the the employees have lost their homes and all their belongings. With Betty's Beach Cafe now gone they are now without jobs.

Paia Fish Market Front Street - This GoFundMe was setup by Paia Fish Market to raise funds for the community of Lahaina. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities.

Kohola Brewery - This link goes to the Kohola Brewery Instagram page which has instructions on how to donate by Venmo. The slide and instructions are in the last photo. Funds will go to assist employees.

Maui Federal Credit Union - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Maui FCU. Four employees have lost their homes. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities.

The Bakery Lahaina - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Bakery Lahaina. Many of their employees have lost their homes and all possessions. Funds will assist with housing, clothing, and basic necessities.

Westside Bagel - This GoFundMe was setup to assist Westside Bagel with finding a new location and reopening.

Honolua Surf Co, Quiksilver, Roxy, & Billabong - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Honolua Surf Co, Quiksilver, Roxy, and Billabong. 14 employees have lost their homes and many are now without jobs. Funds will assist with housing, clothing, and basic necessities.

Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Ululani's Shave Ice. Funds will assist with housing, clothing, and basic necessities. 75% of funds will go to employees and 25% to the Lahaina community.

TRU.X/Truth Excavation & Clark Family - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Truth Excavation and the Clark Family. Many crew members of Truth Excavation worked tirelessly to help save homes and to save lives during the Maui Wildfire. While saving homes in their community the owners of TRU.X sadly lost their home. Funds will go towards housing, basic necessities, and covering payroll for employees until they can go back to work. 

Merriman's Kapalua - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Merriman's Kapalua. All are temporarily out of work and many have lost their homes. They need assistance with housing and basic necessities. While out of work, many of the employees are volunteering and helping to feed displaced residents. Monkeypod Kitchen Kaanapali - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Monkeypod Kitchen Kaanapali. All are temporarily out of work and over 50 have lost their homes. They need assistance with housing and basic necessities. While out of work, many of the employees are volunteering and helping to feed displaced residents. Rainbow Glass & Mirror - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Rainbow Glass & Mirror in Lahaina. Funds will go towards providing housing and the basic necessities for employees that are currently without a job.

Boss Frog's and Quicksilver Charters - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Boss Frog's and Quicksilver Charters. 55 employees are currently out of work and many have lost their homes. Funds will help with housing and basic necessities.

Captain Steve's Rafting - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Captain Steve's Rafting. Captain Steve and his ohana lost their home and both boats. Several other employees lost their homes and all are currently without jobs. Funds will help with housing, basic necessities, and hopefully to rebuild the company. We have personally been out with Captain Steve and his team multiple times over the past 15 years and recommend them to everyone. They are an amazing group and we are honored to support them and we look forward to one day in the future to being able to spend time with them again on the water off West Maui.

The Dirty Monkey Lahaina - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of The Dirty Monkey in Lahaina. 100% of funds will go to the employees. All are without jobs and many have lost their homes and possessions. Funds will assist with housing, food, and necessities.

Save The Banyan Tree by Lahaina Restoration Foundation - This GoFundMe was setup to assist in saving the famous Banyan Tree by the Lahaina Harbor. All funds will be used to assist in saving and preserving the banyan tree. 

Moku Roots - Donations to Moku Roots will be used to feed and provide resources for anyone affected by the Maui Wildfire. 

Hurley - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Hurley in Lahaina. Funds will assist the 14 employees who are now without jobs. Many have lost everything. Any additional funds will be provided to the Lahaina community. 

Fleetwood's - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Fleetwood's On Front Street. Funds will assist the 130 employees who are now without jobs. Many have lost everything. 

Gemini Sailing/Dyer Family - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Gemini Sailing and the residents of Lahaina. Six employees of Gemini Sailing have lost their homes. The GoFundMe is organized by the Dyer family.

Trilogy Excursions - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Trilogy Excursions. 100% of funds will go to the employees of Trilogy. Many lost their homes and all their possessions.

Bob "Ole" Olson & Bev Olson - This GoFundMe was setup to assist Bob Ole Olson and his wife Bev. Ole is an old school surfboard builder. Ole and Bev lost their home and his surfboard shaping business. They lost everything, but their pets and are having to start over at a very late age in life. Funds will help with housing and basic necessities.

Miso Phat West Maui - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Miso Phat on West Maui. 10 employees have lost everything and all employees are currently without jobs at this time. The restaurant was not affected, but due to current conditions on the Westside and lack of tourism the employees of Miso Phat may be out of work for quite awhile. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities. Miso Phat is our favorite sushi on Maui and the staff at the Westside location have always been extremely welcoming and provide amazing service along with the best sushi. 

Lahaina Pizza Company - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Lahaina Pizza Company. Many employees have lost everything and all employees are currently without jobs at this time. Sadly, one of the Lahaina Pizza Company team members was a victim of the fire. The employees and their ohana will need immediate assistance and likely extended assistance as they try to rebuild their lives. 100% of funds will go to employees. 

Makai Adventures & Kainani Sails - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Makai Adventures & Kainani Sails. 10 employees are currently without employment and around half have lost their homes and possessions. All funds will go to help the employees. The GoFundMe page also has links for Venmo accounts for each crew member.

Anytime Fitness Lahaina - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Anytime Fitness in Lahaina. Many employees have lost everything. The owners have also lost their home and all possessions. Funds will assist the staff with their immediate needs.

West Maui Taxi/Ly Ohana - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the owners of West Maui Taxi. Many of their assets were lost and many fo their drivers have lost their homes and are now without jobs. Funds will help support the Ly Ohana with hopes of getting West Maui Taxi eventually open again.

The Gazebo - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of The Gazebo restaurant. Multiple employees have lost their homes and all are currently without a job. Although The Gazebo was not affected by the fire it will take a longtime for the restaurant to reopen and return to normal service. Funds will go directly to employees who have been impacted.

Tails Up Disaster Relief Kitchen - Tails Up, Cutting Edge Catering, Private Chef Maui, and Fresh Fish Maui have joined with the goal of providing 1,000 meals per day to Maui residents who have been displaced by the wildfires that affected Lahaina and Kula. All funds will go towards providing meals for Maui residents in need.

Maui Off-Road Adventures - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Maui Off-Road Adventures. 7 employees have lost their homes and all are currently without jobs. Funds will be used to assist employees with housing and basic necessities.

808 Grindz - This GoFundMe was setup by 808 Grindz. All donations raised will be given to the Lahaina community. 

Joey's Kitchen and Macadangdang Restaurant - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Joey's Kitchen Whalers, Joey's Kitchen Napili, and Macadangdang Restaurant. Funds will go to employees at Joey's Kitchen Whalers, Joey's Kitchen Napili, and Macadangdang. Many have lost heir homes and all possessions. All are currently out of a job. All three restaurants were sparred by the wildfire, but it will take many months and possibly years for the restaurants to return to normal business.

Maui Lifeguard Association - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Maui Lifeguard Association. The funds will be used to help support the four Maui Lifeguards who lost their homes and all possessions. 

Maui Sunriders Bike Shop - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Maui Sunriders Bike Shop in Lahaina. The shop was destroyed and at least one employee has lost everything. Funds will go towards helping employees with housing and basic necessities.

Akana Ohana and Nagasaka General Store - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the Akana Family and employees of Nagasaka General Store. Many of the family members works at the general store. Six homes were destroyed and 30 family members are now without housing and most without employment due to the loss of the Nagasaka General Store. Funds will assist the ohana with housing and basic necessities.

Linda's Kitchen - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the owner and family of Linda's Kitchen Lahaina. Their home is no longer livable and the business sustained some damage as well. Funds will assist with housing and getting the family back onto their feet.

Nguyen Ohana and Da Best Pho Lahaina - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the Nguyen Family who owns Da Best Pho Lahaina. The Nguyen family has lost their home, cars, and possessions. Their food truck is safe, but with tourism currently shut down and likely to not return to normal for sometime they will need assistance for the foreseeable future. Funds will help with housing and rebuilding their lives.

Doan Ohana and Lahaina Jewelry - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the Doan Family who owns Lahaina Jewelry. The Doan Ohana unfortunately lost both their home of 30 years and their business of 30 years. Funds will be used to assist them with getting back on their feet and to hopefully rebuild. 

Feast at Lele - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Feast at Lele in Lahaina. Many employees have lost their homes and all are currently unemployed. Feast at Lele was sadly destroyed so there is no way to know if or when the employees will be able to go back to work. 100% of funds will be provided to employees for help with housing and basic necessities.

Slappy Cakes - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Slappy Cakes Maui. 64 employees have been temporarily laid off. May are displaced and in shelters or housed with family and friends. Funds will help house and support employees until businesses on the West Maui can reopen. 100% of funds will got to Slappy Cakes employees. 

Atlantis Adventures Maui/Atlantis Submarines Maui - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Atlantis Submarines Maui. Multiple employees have lost homes and all are currently without jobs. Atlantis Submarines Maui lost their office and boats. All funds will go to employees so they can survive until Atlantis Submarines Maui can eventually rebuild and open back up.

Lahaina Divers Maui - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Lahaina Divers. Many employees have lost their homes and all belongings. All employees are currently out of work. 100% of funds will be provided to the employees to assist with housing and basic necessities.

Lahaina Christmas Store - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of the Lahaina Christmas Store. Many employees lost their homes and possessions. All employees are currently left without jobs. Funds will go to the employees for housing, basic necessities, and to assist with rebuilding their lives. Over the years we have cherished picking out new decorations for our Christmas tree at the Lahaina Christmas Store. We hope that one day in the future we can continue this tradition.

Maui Matcha - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Maui Matcha. Three employees have lost their homes. Funds will go to the three employees who lost their homes and need assistance with housing.

West Maui Animal Clinic - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of the West Maui Animal Clinic. Seven employees have lost their homes, possessions, and are currently without jobs. Funds will go to the seven employees so they can locate housing and get back onto their feet.

Lanai Cat Sanctuary - This link is for the Donation Page for the Lanai Cat Sanctuary. The Lanai Cat Sanctuary operates on donations from visitors. 95% of their visitors came over on the Maui to Lanai Ferry out of Lahaina Harbor. It may take years for visitor travel from Maui to return to normal levels. During this time, the sanctuary will need funding to continue to care for the cats that they rescue. Some of the cats have illnesses that require special medication. We had the pleasure of being able to visit the Lanai Cat Sanctuary in 2019. It's a cool place to visit even for those who are not a cat lovers. 

Lahaina Harbor Fishermen & Tour Boar Operators - This link is for the Donation Page for the Lahaina Harbor Fishermen & Tour Operators. 100% of funds will be provided to those who work out of Lahaina Harbor and have been affected by the wildfires. Many have lost their homes, belongings, boats, and jobs.

GungHo Sailing - This link is for the Donation Page for GungHo Sailing. The owners of GungHo Sailing have lost their home and their sailboat. The husband is a fire fighter and worked tirelessly to save lives while they lost their home and boat. The family is now displaced. Their children worked at local Lahaina restaurants which are now gone. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities.

Lahaina Yacht Club - This link is for the Donation Page for Lahaina Yacht Club. Funds will be provided to assist employees who are out of a job. Funds will also be used to assist with rebuilding the club.

Pacific Whale Foundation - This link is for the Donation Page for Pacific Whale Foundation. The Pacific Whale Foundation has multiple funds that you can donate to. One fund is the Employee Disaster Relief Fund which will help support the 22 employees who have lost everything and are currently without jobs. The second fund is the Maui Community Relief Fund which will be distributed to those in the community who need assistance.

Quicksilver, Calypso, & Malolo Tour Boats - This link is for the Donation Page for crews of the Quicksilver, Calypso, and Malolo tour boats. Many of the crew members have lost everything and are now without jobs. Funds will help support them and allow them to find housing. 

Reefdancer - This link is for the Donation Page for crew of the Reefdancer. Funds will be provided to employees of the Reefdancer to assist with housing and basic necessities.

Sail Maui - This link is for the Donation Page for crew of Sail Maui. Funds will be provided to employees of the Sail Maui to assist with housing and basic necessities. Many have lost everything and all are currently without jobs.

Sea Maui - This link is for the Donation Page for crew of Sea Maui. Funds will be provided to employees of the Sea Maui to assist with housing and basic necessities. 12 employees lost their homes. Many have lost everything and all are currently without jobs.

UFO Parasail & Adventures - This link is for the Donation Page for crew of UFO Parasail & Adventures. Funds will be provided to employees of the UFO Parasail to assist with housing and basic necessities. Multiple employees lost their homes. Many have lost everything and all are currently without jobs.

Lahaina Fish Co. - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Lahaina Fish Company. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities. Many of the the employees have lost their homes and all their belongings. 

808 Antojitos - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of 808 Antojitos. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities. Some employees have lost their homes and all their belongings. All are currently without a job.

Choice Health Bar - This GoFundMe was setup to assist the employees of Choice Health Bar. Funds will assist with housing and basic necessities. 28 employees have lost their homes and all their belongings. All are currently without a job.
